Great Mom!

Tina,
Times are really, really tough right now and I realize I make it so hard to keep your hope alive that this, too, shall pass and that we WILL get beyond these challenges with my stupid mistakes; but, the truth is we CAN make it through, we can truly be better for dealing with all of the hardships we are facing. I feel the ONLY way we'll make it is to do so together. I know you are angry with me now, and you are fearful about all that lies ahead, but, I assure you I am working so hard to change those things about me that make you angry and fearful. As old as I am, I CAN "learn new tricks." I am just really slow at it. You've changed me in ways you may never understand, but the changes are there. My life is better for having you in it. My focus now is for me to be that same catalyst for you, to work at turning those things about me that hurt or anger you into the character traits on which you can rely, and in which you can trust.

I realize this is not the birthday wishes anyone would expect or want; but, unfortunately for you, this is where we are. So, my birthday wish for you is to find peace, God's peace, this day, so that this day, above others, can be a time of letting go of your stress, if only for a little while. This day can be a time of pushing away, for the day, those thoughts and feelings that, though you've worked so hard at improving your life, that you seem to going in the wrong direction. This day, your day, can be a time for your husband to step up to the responsibilities that will bring about the changes in your life you deserve. You're wrong about me, I can, and will, change and I will make it happen.

I love you beyond measure. YOU WILL SEE!
