I always loved birthdays, especially the gift-giving part. I enjoy the thrill of finding just the perfect gift, searching for new, surprising and innovative gift ideas. And more than anything, I enjoy watching the surprised face of my birthday celebrant when he/ she unwraps their gift.
Ever since I was little, I was fascinated by gift shops, for me, it was like entering an enchanting and exciting new world. Today, with the internet, although I don't actually enter a gift shop, I'm always amazed at the superb variety of excellent birthday gift ideas.

A Bad Luck or Blessing in Disguise?Up until few years ago, I was a working bee at a high tech company that due to the bursting of the dot-com bubble, had to close, and all the employees were let go, including me.
Even thought it was expected, I still was in a bit of a shock, from a working bee with no life to doing nothing. I didn’t quite know what to do with my sudden freedom.
What I did know, was, that I never really liked my job.
You know that feeling when you fantasize about your next vacation? About taking a day off just to sit back and relax on the beach, catching up reading a new book? But your boss always have a sour face when you tell him you need some time out and he / she makes you feel you wished you have never asked for it?
So I can only thank the lord for giving me this once in a lifetime opportunity, a FREEDOM to ask myself what I want to do with the rest of my life. To stop and think WHAT I REALLY WANT TO DO!
One thing was clear; I don't want a boss over my shoulder telling me what to do or what I can't do.
I want to work on my own hours, to enjoy my job, take vacation whenever I want to, to achieve something on my own and most of all, to earn enough money to accomplish all my dreams.
I had freedom and time, but "what can I do", "what sort of a business can I start"?
One day, I spotted a new gift shop, and naturally I had to check it out, this is when it hit me!!! (I literally saw a light bulb over my head).
I'm passionate about gifts, so why won't I open a business related to gifts?
Wow, what a EUREKA moment it was!
"If You Can Dream It, You Can Do It" / Walt Disney.One day, I surfed the net and it hit me, again, "I will build a gift e-store with the greatest gifts ever", I was EXCITED!
It seemed so easy that all I had to do was just build the website and instantly I will have my own successful business that will fulfill all my dreams and I could work from home at my own hours with no boss and have fun with it.
So, I built a gift e-store.
It took me almost a year to build it and another year to understand that I did something wrong because it didn’t work. I failed! Big time.
"Where There Is a Will There Is a Way"I wasn’t ready to give up my passion and dreams, but I was very discouraged. Since money started to become an issue, I gave myself one last chance to find something that will truly change my life and help me fulfill my dreams.
