Tips, Materials, Colors and Embellishments

Materials

You can use simple, inexpensive materials like tissue paper, kraft paper, cellophane, fabric remnants (they are especially good for oddly shaped gifts), fabric bags (perfect for wine bottles) and wrapping paper.

Color

Blue and white tissue papers to pull off an appealing gift wrap. If you want to present with impressive package consider choosing a palette and match gift wrap patterns, colors, textures and accessories.

For a dramatic effect you can combine two coordinating colors. For example, I wrapped this gift with blue tissue paper and to achieve a dramatic effect I added 2 white tissue paper stripes.

Embellishments

You can attain a gorgeous gift wrap by using raffia, ribbons, string, old ties, laces, leather strips, seam binding or twine to tie it.

gift wrapping embellishments: Plain kraft paper enhanced with some lavender flowers and a ribbon. Finish of with some trimmings such as silk flowers, dried flowers, real flowers, beads, decorative fruit, leaves, greenery, tiny ornaments, or charms.

For instance, I wrapped this gift with plain Kraft paper and embellished it with some real lavender flowers and a matching ribbon.

Additional tips

Keep all your wrapping supplies in one organized place (like a big box) this way you will avoid hectic gift wrap (especially when done at the last minute).

To achieve a tidier appearance it is preferred if you use a transparent cellophane tape.

Do you know? Gifts have been wrapped since the invention of paper in 105 A.D. in China.
