I have to buy my colleagues seventeen year old daughter something for her birthday and I want to avoid money and gift cards at all costs. I know basically that she likes music. Shes a very sweet girl, very optimistic.

Hi Brian
Like every teen girl who likes music, you can get her something related to music. NEO Recycled Plastic Speakers made from recycled materials and compatible with all iPods, MP3 Players and Notebooks might be an excelnt birthday gift for her.
Or this ultra-comfortable Sports Armband , it gives full protection, easy-navigation to the iPod, and minimizes bulk on the arm.

what can i do 4 my gaughter on re birthday - aspecial idea- & what present can i give her

Hi Mona
Make her gifts hunt around the house, write clues and hide them in different places around the house, each clue will lead her to either a treat or a gift and to the next clue.
To finish fill her room with balloons, ask her friends to write birthday wishes and attach them to the balloons.
She would be very surprised by that.

She has asked for a car or a puppy but I'm not prepared to get her either! I am completely stumped. I want to get her something more original than a gift card or money. Something she will remember forever. She is fairly girly and NOT into Jonas Brothers, Miley Cyrus, etc. so nothing involving that. I am willing to spend up to five hundred dollars.

You can get her both the car and puppy but in a unique way. For the puppy you can give her this hilarious Chuckle Buddy that explodes with laughter ever time someone passes by. It rolls over and laughs so hard that it's contagious.
And for the car you could give her an unforgettable thrilling experience gift of driving a race car, corvette or Porsche adventure. It's a gift she will never forget and she'll think you're the best mom in the world.
