16th birthday gift for my boyfriend so confusing

my bf is about to be the big 16 in july next month. he's my first real serious relationship and we have been dating for about 8 months and the worse part is he's so excited about my 16th in september and i really want to get him something good. he's into sports crazy about basketball.. but I'm not 100% sure what his favorite team he loves a good laugh.he hates dancing and he's really shy so i know he doesn't want a party? red he's favorite color and i really want this gift to hit it off any ideas? and it does not have to do with sports!
